Here's a poem I wrote a while ago:

God, Jesus, Holy Spirit,
come heal me, save me, meet me where I'm at.
I get so broken and lost.
I want to be able to follow you at any cost.

I'm tired of living my life halfway for you.
I let the devil attack me and bring me down.
I trust in myself and my own understanding more than you.

I'm afraid to cry and break.
I'm afraid giving my all would leave me with nothing
and be more than I can take.
I'm afraid to let go.
I listen to the lies in my head
instead of focusing on the truth that You love me.

I hear your Word, yet I don't obey.
I go my own way.
Oh what a tormented soul I sometimes choose to be.
Why?  Because I often live for me.

Maybe I'll get it someday
that all will be okay.

Take all of me God and break my chains
until only one thing remains--
your unfailing love that endures forever.

Bless your people God.
Save our trembling hearts.
We need you God.
We are nothing without you.

Give me the ability to be more open
and have more sincere love for others.
Give me your heart for others God.
Make my heart obedient to you God.
I love you so much.  Amen.

Becoming New...

Good evening y'all, It has been a long day, but it has gone by fast.  Sort of ironic.  I'm sitting at home trying to get some rest from this cold that's clinging to me like a crawfish...??  I know I've been at work too long when I start sounding out words in my head that I see--like the word, Th-i-n-k-ing.  Or I start saying the words that way to adults when they ask me a question. This 2016-17 school year I am a LITERACY TUTOR in AmeriCorps.  It sounds kind of fancy when you put it that way.  I spend my days working one-on-one with about 16 different students on various reading interventions.  We work on short reading passages or blending together small words.  This also includes a lot of paperwork, data entry, prep work, bribing and coaxing via small toys, candy, and cracker items.  It should involve a lot more praise than scolding, more high-fives than head-shaking, and you get the picture.  The work is often rewarding, but also where I want to bang my head agai

Hi everybody!

Hello everybody! I've never had a blog before.   I have Facebook though.  I don't really know what to do.  If other people can comment on here feel free to ask me about my life  : )   Oh, apparently you guys can comment so that's good.              So this is Jasmine Fairbanks and I am at the Teen Mania Ministry's Honor Academy in Garden Valley, Texas which a Christian leadership school/ministry internship, basically, yet it's a lot more.  It's sort of like being on a mission trip because we are working toward spreading the gospel, but we stay in one place and reach people through the phones, etc.  I call for the Minneapolis Acquire the Fire youth conference.  Our event is on Feb. 4th & 5th, which is in like 2 weeks!  I'm excited, I get to go and help!  We'll help set up the event and with registration, etc.  This weekend is also the Houston Acquire the Fire, which I will get to attend.  This will be the first full Acquire the Fire that I've
