Poem:  

Dear God,
it feels like you break my heart
in a whole new way every day.

Seasons changing,
so much changing.
You are making everything new.

What is my New Year's Resolution?
I vow to fight through.

You will bind up my broken heart
and heal all my wounds--
stronger than before,
more beautiful than before.

I cannot do this on my own.
I do not want to either.
Teach me Lord how to live life fully
and how to build community.

Help me learn how to start over
and help me to walk in joy.
I want all that you have to offer.
I want your presence and to enjoy you where I'm at.

God, I want you as my inheritance
and as my legacy.

I want to fill my life with you daily.
I want to be unashamed to talk about you.
You are my best friend.
This is normal and I am not ashamed.

Let me not be ashamed of the Gospel,
wherever that may lead me.
Because no matter where life takes me,
 I cannot be taken away from your love.

Becoming New...

Good evening y'all, It has been a long day, but it has gone by fast.  Sort of ironic.  I'm sitting at home trying to get some rest from this cold that's clinging to me like a crawfish...??  I know I've been at work too long when I start sounding out words in my head that I see--like the word, Th-i-n-k-ing.  Or I start saying the words that way to adults when they ask me a question. This 2016-17 school year I am a LITERACY TUTOR in AmeriCorps.  It sounds kind of fancy when you put it that way.  I spend my days working one-on-one with about 16 different students on various reading interventions.  We work on short reading passages or blending together small words.  This also includes a lot of paperwork, data entry, prep work, bribing and coaxing via small toys, candy, and cracker items.  It should involve a lot more praise than scolding, more high-fives than head-shaking, and you get the picture.  The work is often rewarding, but also where I want to bang my head agai

Hi everybody!

Hello everybody! I've never had a blog before.   I have Facebook though.  I don't really know what to do.  If other people can comment on here feel free to ask me about my life  : )   Oh, apparently you guys can comment so that's good.              So this is Jasmine Fairbanks and I am at the Teen Mania Ministry's Honor Academy in Garden Valley, Texas which a Christian leadership school/ministry internship, basically, yet it's a lot more.  It's sort of like being on a mission trip because we are working toward spreading the gospel, but we stay in one place and reach people through the phones, etc.  I call for the Minneapolis Acquire the Fire youth conference.  Our event is on Feb. 4th & 5th, which is in like 2 weeks!  I'm excited, I get to go and help!  We'll help set up the event and with registration, etc.  This weekend is also the Houston Acquire the Fire, which I will get to attend.  This will be the first full Acquire the Fire that I've
