About Me


My name is Jasmine.  I was named after the Jasmine flower.  I have one of those name plaques with name meaning on it.  It says, "Living Fragrance.  For we are Christ's fragrance, to those being saved and those who are perishing."  paraphrased.  I really love that.

My hobbies are crocheting, knitting, drawing, writing poems, and being an over-achiever ah ha ha.  But seriously.  I love animals and children.  At my dad's house is our dog Cubbie, the love of my life.  Just kidding, but she is a very good, faithful dog.  Also the cat Ghaazhi (little animal that hides -- cat in Ojibwe).  Our cat Chrissy (Lady Chrysanthimum Olivia Sage Sophia Miranda Fairbanks) has passed away and we now have a different cat named Sage.  We also have a boxer named Nala. 

I went to college a couple of years ago to study Biblical Studies and Psychology.  It's good to learn how to help people with an understanding of how to do that with knowing truth from the Bible.  Mostly I am learning how to help myself.  Then I will be able to help others.

I love music.  I love worship and prayer.  Definitely not enough of this in my life, but it's a process.  To be encouraged I am grateful for biblegateway.com and the audio version of the Bible.  Especially the dramatized version.  I also recommend audio sermons by Charles Spurgeon "The Prince of Preachers."  He lived in the 1800s.  Deliverance Bible Church (DBC) in Hurst, Texas also has some great sermons that are free on iTunes.

I'm grateful for my family.  My Big Family on my dad's side with all of my sister cousins and my mom's family of a smaller sort.  Also friends and family in Christ who lift me up.  Thank you.

Becoming New...

Good evening y'all, It has been a long day, but it has gone by fast.  Sort of ironic.  I'm sitting at home trying to get some rest from this cold that's clinging to me like a crawfish...??  I know I've been at work too long when I start sounding out words in my head that I see--like the word, Th-i-n-k-ing.  Or I start saying the words that way to adults when they ask me a question. This 2016-17 school year I am a LITERACY TUTOR in AmeriCorps.  It sounds kind of fancy when you put it that way.  I spend my days working one-on-one with about 16 different students on various reading interventions.  We work on short reading passages or blending together small words.  This also includes a lot of paperwork, data entry, prep work, bribing and coaxing via small toys, candy, and cracker items.  It should involve a lot more praise than scolding, more high-fives than head-shaking, and you get the picture.  The work is often rewarding, but also where I want to bang my head agai

Hi everybody!

Hello everybody! I've never had a blog before.   I have Facebook though.  I don't really know what to do.  If other people can comment on here feel free to ask me about my life  : )   Oh, apparently you guys can comment so that's good.              So this is Jasmine Fairbanks and I am at the Teen Mania Ministry's Honor Academy in Garden Valley, Texas which a Christian leadership school/ministry internship, basically, yet it's a lot more.  It's sort of like being on a mission trip because we are working toward spreading the gospel, but we stay in one place and reach people through the phones, etc.  I call for the Minneapolis Acquire the Fire youth conference.  Our event is on Feb. 4th & 5th, which is in like 2 weeks!  I'm excited, I get to go and help!  We'll help set up the event and with registration, etc.  This weekend is also the Houston Acquire the Fire, which I will get to attend.  This will be the first full Acquire the Fire that I've
