Harmony on earth...

Poem (from June 2012):

I'm trying to clear my head.
I'm thinking of sweet sage and rock candy.
So many little things go unnoticed.

I think without the trees we couldn't breathe.
We take so much for granted.

Clean water:
it is a life source for us,
as blood through our veins.
Yet we hardly think of our abundance.

There are thirsty, crying souls!
They need help!
They need the renewing hope of Christ
and good news.  They need real water
and the water of eternal life.

Lord, may we act and work justly!
Let us pour LIFE into the ones in need!

May our hearts be filled with gratefulness!

We need a deep connection to you God.
I pray we won't be satisfied by bread and water alone,
but that we would feed on your Word.
Let us be strengthened and encouraged by your grace and providence.

May your abundance in our lives flow into the lives
of those around us.  Let us overflow from YOU our source!
May the Son shine in His reign!
Thank you God for your mercy and grace.
I love and praise you Father.  Amen.

Becoming New...

Good evening y'all, It has been a long day, but it has gone by fast.  Sort of ironic.  I'm sitting at home trying to get some rest from this cold that's clinging to me like a crawfish...??  I know I've been at work too long when I start sounding out words in my head that I see--like the word, Th-i-n-k-ing.  Or I start saying the words that way to adults when they ask me a question. This 2016-17 school year I am a LITERACY TUTOR in AmeriCorps.  It sounds kind of fancy when you put it that way.  I spend my days working one-on-one with about 16 different students on various reading interventions.  We work on short reading passages or blending together small words.  This also includes a lot of paperwork, data entry, prep work, bribing and coaxing via small toys, candy, and cracker items.  It should involve a lot more praise than scolding, more high-fives than head-shaking, and you get the picture.  The work is often rewarding, but also where I want to bang my head agai

Hi everybody!

Hello everybody! I've never had a blog before.   I have Facebook though.  I don't really know what to do.  If other people can comment on here feel free to ask me about my life  : )   Oh, apparently you guys can comment so that's good.              So this is Jasmine Fairbanks and I am at the Teen Mania Ministry's Honor Academy in Garden Valley, Texas which a Christian leadership school/ministry internship, basically, yet it's a lot more.  It's sort of like being on a mission trip because we are working toward spreading the gospel, but we stay in one place and reach people through the phones, etc.  I call for the Minneapolis Acquire the Fire youth conference.  Our event is on Feb. 4th & 5th, which is in like 2 weeks!  I'm excited, I get to go and help!  We'll help set up the event and with registration, etc.  This weekend is also the Houston Acquire the Fire, which I will get to attend.  This will be the first full Acquire the Fire that I've

The Lord disciplines those He loves, gives grace to the humble and strength to...my soul.

Hello!  I hope you are doing well.  : ) Here's a poem I wrote the other day:  God, please help me to be strong and apoligize when I'm wrong. I know if I hang onto bitterness I won't last very long before breaking into pieces.  It's like a rotting disease-- like leprosy. But, God, I know that you can heal me! You heal the broken-hearted and bind up their wounds.  God, make me whole!  I want to be made whole in you, set free and fully redeemed. Please drive out of me all that isn't from you-- all my sin that is keeping me captive within. Free me to live for you God and to love you. Free me to speak truth and cultivate peace. Help me to live in humility and harmony. God, break down these walls that I build up in my heart.
